The Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) of police has arrested a top leader of banned militant outfit Hizb ut-Tahrir, Jahidul Ialam Jahid, from the Bibir Bagicha area of Jatrabari in Dhaka.
Confirming the matter, Mahiduzzaman, superintendent of police of ATU, said that acting on a tip-off Jahid was arrested on Thursday, reports BSS.
Jahid, 37, is the chief of Dawha wing of Dhaka City (East) and a member of the banned outfit's media wing.
The police also recovered extremist books and leaflets, anti-government leaflets, posters, a laptop and four mobile phones from his possession.
