Green Savers also provides regular plant care services to their city clients five days a month throughout the year
When you go home to celebrate Eid this year, breathing in the clean, fresh air of your village homes, you no longer have to worry about the potted plants you leave behind in the city.
Your potted plants which are natural oxygen producers, sometimes die during the holidays due to lack of watering or sunlight, and proper care.
But that need not happen. Green Savers, a social service provider, has come up with an initiative to take proper care of your plants for only Tk1 a plant each day.
You can relax, knowing your plants are in good hands with the ‘Doctor of Trees.’ Green Savers will take care of your plants until you are back. They will take care of your plants from May 25 to June 15 according to your needs.

They have a "plant ambulance," gifted by former Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Annisul Huq, to render the service of carrying the plants from home to the Green Savers Tree Hospital in Dhaka's Agargaon at a minimal cost.
The founder of this initiative, Ahsan Rony, an Alumni of Dhaka University's Anthropology department, took the initiative four years ago in a bid to save the environment in one of the most polluted cities in the world.
The idea of establishing the tree hospital came to Rony’s mind when he was a university student. He started rendering his services from Salimullah Muslim hall in 2010. He established all his other services over time and in accordance with the needs of his city clients.
Talking to Dhaka Tribune, Rony said: “As many city folk go to their village homes to celebrate big festivals, they have to leave their plants unattended. I came with this initiative to save those vulnerable plants.”
He continued saying: "I want to make city dwellers conscious about planting trees on rooftops or other unused places in and around their homes."
Regular services
Green Savers also provides regular plant care services to their city clients five days a month throughout the year. "Managing all those care services can be availed for Tk1200 per client per month, excluding transportation costs," said the founder.

“People have nothing to worry about as our experts will manage everything,” Rony said.
A total of 12 doctors and 23 staff work for Green Savers. Rony said: “Many youth were interested to join the team. But they want to be called ‘Doctors of Trees’ instead of 'Mali,' or gardener.”
How does the hospital run?
Rony says the service is currently running at a loss. But sometimes they get a landscaping contract which enables them to make some profit, which helps them run their services smoothly.
The Department of Environment has also provided space for the hospital free of cost and also provides water and other services or materials according to their needs.
