Further steps will be taken after the probe report has been submitted
Police have formed a committee to investigate allegations of graft—and submit a probe report—against Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Md Mizanur Rahman and Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Director Khandaker Enamul Basir.
Moinur Rahman Chowdhury, additional IGP (Admin) has been made the chief of the probe body, which also includes Additional IGP (Finance) Shahabuddin Qureshi and Superintendent of Police at the Police Bureau of Investigation Miah Masud Karim.
Assistant Inspector General of Police (Media) Sohel Rana confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune, saying that further measures will be taken after the investigation report has been submitted.
He said, “Any action against them will be taken by the Home Ministry on the basis of the probe's findings, as the police have no authority to punish officials with DIG rank.”

Previously, DIG Mizanur Rahman alleged that Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Director, Enamul Basir, accepted his bribes worth Tk40 lakh—in two phases—in exchange for information.
On June 10, the ACC said it has suspended its director Khandaker Enamul Basir, and removed him from the probe team that was investigating the wealth of DIG Mizanur, for leaking a probe report to DIG Mizanur.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said action will be taken against Mizanur Rahman if it is proven that he bribed ACC Director Basir.
Last year, the ACC launched a probe into the wealth of DIG Mizanur after he was relieved of duties following allegations of torturing a woman.
Enamul Basir was a member of the ACC probe team investigating the DIG’s wealth.
