The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested two suspected operatives of the banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).
The arrestees were identified as Md Azizul Haque alias Aziz, 25, and Mufti Abdul Hakim, 37.
Acting on intelligence reports, the battalion personnel conducted separate drives on Thursday night, said Major Khan Sajibul Islam, an official of RAB-8.
He said Aziz was detained at Mirpur in the capital while Hakim at Jaipur of Dohar upazila in Dhaka.
During primary interrogation, both of them admitted that they were the members of the outfit's invitation branch and had been recruiting fresh members from various parts of the country for JMB, said Sajibul Islam.
Trained in graphics and IT, Aziz passed Fazil examinations from a local madrasa in Patuakhali while Hakim was an imam of a local mosque and working as a madrasa teacher in Dohar, he said.
"We are taking legal action against them," the RAB official added.
