Railways Ministry secretary said, passengers will get a refund for Sunday's tickets
Bangladesh Railway has rescheduled the departure time of at least six trains from Dhaka's Kamalapur Railway Station to the west zone of the country.
According to the newly announced schedule, all the trains leaving Dhaka for different parts of the country are late by at least one hour to the excess of 13 hours.
Moreover, Dhaka to Rajshahi bound Dhumketu Express was rescheduled to 5:30pm from its previous schedule of 6am, Khulna bound Sundarban express was rescheduled to 2:20pm from the original schedule of 6:20am, and Chilahati bound Nilsagar Express was rescheduled to 6:10pm from the original time of 8am.
According to the new schedule, Rangpur bound Rangpur Express will leave Kamalapur station at 10:35pm instead of 9am, and Lalmonirhat bound Lalmoni Eid Special Train will leave Dhaka at 11:15pm against its original time of 9:15am.
Moreover, Silk City Express, which was supposed to leave Dhaka at 2:40pm, will now start its journey at 11:40pm, while several other trains have been reported late in the station.
When contacted, Resho Banik, officer-in-charge of Kamalapur railway station said that "Dhumketu Express" left the station six hours later than the scheduled time, while "Sundarban Express" was late by five hours, "Nilsagar Express" and "Rangpur Express" trains by eight hours, and "Lalmonirhat Express" (special) by 10 hours, reports UNB.
Addressing the issue, Secretary of the Railways Ministry Mofazzal Hossain said passengers can return their tickets scheduled for Sunday, and take back their money, because of the schedule collapse.
