5 arrested over schoolboy Mohsin's murder

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Commissioner of Tejgaon Division Wahidul Islam said, 'After the incident, Mohsin's elder brother Yousuf Ali filed a case accusing 13 people'

The police have arrested five people in connection with the murder of Mohammadpur schoolboy Mohsin Ali. 

They were arrested from different areas of Dhaka and Keraniganjyesterday.

Mohsin was stabbed to death on Wednesday at 8pm in the Chan Miah Housing area at Mohammadpur, while three others were injured.

Police said that those involved in the murder of Mohsin are members of a teenage gang. The murder happened because of an ongoing affair with a girl. 

Confirming the matter, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Commissioner of Tejgaon Division Wahidul Islam said: "After the incident, Mohsin's elder brother Yousuf Ali filed a case accusing 13 people."

"We started our investigation right after the murder and arrested five people, of which two were already in the FIR list. The three others were suspected to be involved in the murder." he added.

ADC Wahid also said: "During the primary interrogation, we got to know that Mohsin and his friend Rubel took a girl to a nearby park on Wednesday, when some teenagers, including Parvez, came and made some offensive comments."

“This caused an altercation between them, in which Mohsin was later attacked." he added.

In primary investigation, police find that Pervez was one of the members of teen-gang "Voyankar", while the deceased Mohsin was a member of "Film Jhir Jhir" group.

"We are conducting operations to arrest the alleged youths," he added.

Police also said that Mohsinand his friends were chatting at the Chan Miah Housing area during the evening, when a group of 10-12 youths, some of whom were known, attacked Mohsin and his friends and started stabbing him with sharp weapons.

Duty doctors declared Mohsin dead on arrival while the rest were injured after all four of them were rushed to Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.
