The duo has been on the run since the incident on September 5
Police have arrested the driver and the conductor of a Victor Classic Paribahan bus in a case filed over the death of musician Parvez Rob.
A team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Branch's (DB) North Division arrested driver Md Sumon and conductor Md Akhtar Hossain from Narayanganj and Shariatpur, respectively, on Friday night, said DB Deputy Commissioner (DC Media) Masudur Rahman.
Parvez Rob, also the cousin of noted music director Apel Mahmud, was run over by a Victor Classic bus in Dhaka’s Turag area on September 5, when he was trying to board another bus.
DC Masudur said both Sumon and Akhtar confessed to running over Parvez during preliminary interrogation.
He said: "Akhtar was driving the bus while Sumon was sitting beside him when the accident took place. Akhtar was speeding when he ran over Parvez and then proceeded to flee the scene, leaving Parvez critically injured at the scene."
The musician was rushed to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police later seized that bus, but Sumon and Akhtar had managed to flee. A case over the incident was later filed at Turag police station.
Only two days after Parvez was killed, his son Yasir Alvi Rob was also hospitalized and his friend Mehedi Hasan Choton killed after being run over by another Victor Classic bus in Abdullahpur.
Alvi, with a broken pelvis, is still undergoing treatment at Trauma Centre in Shyamoli.
