Shamsul also filed a case against the police inspector
Police Inspector Mahmud Saiful Amin of Armed Police Battalion (APBn) 13, Uttara, has been temporarily suspended for his Facebook status against Shamsul Hoque Chowdhury, MP, and whip of the National Parliament.
He was suspended on Tuesday in a letter signed by Additional Inspector General (AIG) (PIO-1) Md Anwar Hossain Khan on behalf of AIG Police Headquarters (AIG-Personal Management-2).
On September 20, Mahmud in his Facebook account posted that Whip Shamsul, also the general secretary of the Chittagong Abahani Club, had made Tk180 crore from operating illegal gambling businesses.
Meanwhile, Shamsul filed a case against Mahmud at the Cyber Crime Tribunal under the Digital Security Act 2018 on Wednesday, mentioning that the inspector tried to tarnish his image.
The letter stated that Mahmud was suspended according to the government employees (Discipline and Appeal) Rules for activities against the departmental discipline, hampering the police force’s image to the public eye and misconduct.
During his temporary suspension, he will remain attached to the DIG office of the Rangpur Range and will be entitled to allowance as per the prevailing rules, the letter mentioned
Inspector Mahmud has worked in various police stations including Halishahar and at the Chittagong Metropolitan Court.
