Police have recovered the body of a day old infant near Modhubag bridge of Dhaka's Hatirjheel.
The body, wrapped in paper, was found near Modhubag Jheel around 4pm on Saturday, confirmed Hatirjheel police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Ramzan Ali.
"Locals informed us [Hatirjheel police] that a body of a newborn was lying near Modhubag bridge. We went to the spot immediately ,and recovered the baby's body," he said.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy.
SI Ramzan said: "We are trying to identify the newborn baby. We are still waiting for the autopsy report to determine the cause of death."
