Abrar murder: Now Zion gives confessional statement

Another accused in the Buet student Abrar Fahad muder case has given his confessional statement before a judicial magistrate.

Meftahul Islam Zion, sports secretary of Buet Chhatra League, gave his confessional statement before Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate, Md Sharifuzzaman Ansari on Friday.

Zion, student of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Department in Buet, is one of the 19 people accused in Abrar murder case.

Earlier, DB Inspector Md Wahidud Zaman, also the case's investigation officer, produced Zion before the court.

After recording his statement, the court sent Zion to jail.

At least nine members of Buet unit Chhatra League have been detained in connection with the murder of Abrar Fahad, a second year student of the university.

Of the detainees, Deputy Social Service Secretary of Buet Chhatra League Ifti Mosharraf Sakal gave his confessional statement on Thursday.

Abrar, of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department, was beaten to death inside the university’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall in the early hours of Monday.

Some Chhatra League leaders have been accused of beating him to death for his alleged involvement with Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami.

Abrar's father filed a murder case against 19 people at Chawkbazar police station on Monday evening. As of Friday, 18 people have been detained in connection with the case.
