A press release in this regard has been issued by Titas Gas
Parts of southern Dhaka will suffer a gas supply halt from 8am to 8pm on Wednesday, due to tie-in installation of gas pipelines.
Gas supply to all domestic, industrial, commercial connections, and captive power plants as well as CNG refilling stations that fall between Donia Zia Sarani and Jurain AK School Road will remain suspended.
The others places bracing for the gas outage include Paterbagh, AdarshaSarak, Italy Market, Dholaipar, Rahmatbagh, Mir Hazaribagh, Jurain Medical Road and Jurain Madrasa Road, a press release from Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd (TGTDCL) said on Tuesday.
Gas outage and low pressure are two major and common problems that city dwellers face very often, with the crisis deepening further every winter.
Consumers also face problems due to installation and replacement of gas pipelines on a regular basis, mainly owing to lack of coordination between all the utility agencies.
The TGTDCL is already facing a shortfall of at least 300mmcfd against a demand of around 2,200mmcfd.
In the Dhaka metropolitan area alone, the demand is around 1,700mmcfd.
With 2,783,134 consumers, including 44 power plants, 1,630 captive power producers, and 5,128 industrial units, the TGTDCL supplies gas in eight categories to the Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions.
The number of Titas household users is 2,764,247 while the number of commercial users stands at 11,688.
