A RAB 3 team apprehended them on Saturday night
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained five suspected activists of banned militant outfit Hizb ut-Tahrir at Uttara in Dhaka.
A RAB 3 arrested them from Road No 18 of Uttara’s Sector 7 on Saturday night when they were distributing leaflets, a press release of the battalion said on Sunday.
The detainees are, Kazi Ibaidur Rahman, 36, Nasid Kamal Sazeeb, 27, Zamiur Rahman Khan, 22, Yamin Hossain, 18, and Jasim Uddin, 29.
The elite force also seized leaflets from their possession.
The leaflets address the establishing of a "Khilafat State", anti-Indian speech, and restoration of the Babri Mosque.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Abu Zafar of RAB 3 said: "They gathered for ‘destructive’ activities and disturbing law and order."
