AUPF 2019: 150 high officials from 15 Asian countries in city

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni will attend the event as chief guest at the formal inauguration ceremony at Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden on Saturday

The three-day long 18th Asian University Presidents Forum 2019 began for the first time on Friday in Bangladesh.

Asian University Presidents Forum (AUPF) and Daffodil International University (DIU) in collaboration with Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh (APUB) have organized the event where 15 countries from the Asian subcontinent will participate.

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni will attend the event as chief guest at the formal inauguration ceremony at Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden on Saturday.

Among others, Dr Kazi Shahidullah, chairperson of University Grants Commission, AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, deputy minister of water resources, and Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, deputy minister for education, will attend the program as honorary guests.

Meanwhile, a welcome dinner party was organized for all the AUPF participants at Daffodil International University on Friday.

As chief guest at the dinner, AKM Enamul Haque Shameem, deputy minister of water resources, hoped the conference would offer opportunities for Bangladeshi universities to explore bilateral cooperation with international institutions for the welfare of its students.

As per the vision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh is now approaching towards a digital based education system for the success of Digital Bangladesh, he said.

The deputy minister said the government distributes around 380 million books among school students every year, while more and more schools are being built in remote areas to spread the light of knowledge far and wide.

“Education will keep grooming leaders for tomorrow. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is not only planning for Sunday or Monday, but for the next century,” he said.

DIU Chairman Dr Md Sabur Khan hoped that the conference will help develop capacity with entrepreneurship, innovation, creativity in future to sustain any educational institute.

He also said it is one of the great platforms to cooperate, negotiate, networking and how we can contribute the entrepreneur eco-system inside our university and we can share all the best practices among partners in university.

Conference at a glance

A total of 150 presidents, rectors, and vice chancellors from 40 international universities from different countries will attend the program where Baybars Altuntas, the chairperson of World Business Angels Investment Forum (WBAF), Turkey will present the keynote speech.

The theme of AUPF 2019 is titled –“Future of Entrepreneurship Education and Experiential Learning: Determinants of Developing Successful Entrepreneurial Eco-System in Asian Economies.”

The sub-themes of the conference has been designed in five categories as Entrepreneurial Education and Experiential Learning: Asian Context, Entrepreneurial Education and Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0) in Asian Countries, Road-map for Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Education, Future Teaching Learning Method: From Entrepreneurial Education point of view, and Alternative Fund for the Growth of emerging Entrepreneurs.

Apart from the opening ceremony on Saturday, there will be a standing committee meeting, presentation by keynote speaker, different paper presentations and panel discussions.

On the final day of the conference on Sunday, guests will visit the DIU Permanent Campus in Ashulia to participate in the closing ceremony.
