Dhaka University vice chancellor said they would consider it for the sake of fair investigation
The probe body formed to investigate the December 22 incident taken place at the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) building, has sought 10 more days to submit its report.
The Dhaka University authorities formed the six-member probe committee on December 23 following the assault on Ducsu Vice President (VP) Nurul Haque Nur and his fellows allegedly by Chhatra League and Muktijuddha Mancha men inside the VP office on December 22.
The committee was asked to submit its report along with recommendations within six working days.
Arts Faculty Dean and Convener of the committee Prof Abu Md Delwar Hossain said on Friday they requested the university vice chancellor to extend the timeframe for submitting the probe report.
VC Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman said the investigatory body sought 10 more days to complete the investigation and they would consider it for the sake of fair investigation.
Other members on the probe committee are -- Shamsunnahar Hall Provost Prof Supriya Saha, Sir PJ Hartog International Hall Provost Prof Mohiuddin, DU Senate member Prof Asim Sarkar, Syndicate member Mizanur Rahman, and the university Assistant Proctor Prof Mainul Karim.
On December 22, Ducsu VP Nur and his fellows were injured in the attack while the VP office was also vandalized.
After the attack, Nur filed a complaint with Shahbagh police station for attempting to kill him.
Besides, Shahbagh police lodged a case over the incident, while two cases -- one each with Shahbagh police station and Dhanmondi model police station -- were filed against Nur later on.
