University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh has formed an alumni association for its Department of Media Studies and Journalism (MSJ).
The 15-member convening committee was created in the presence of about 50 former students of the department at the ULAB auditorium on Friday.
Ariful Islam Arman was elected president of the committee and Afiya Pina was elected general secretary.
Other members elected in the committee include - Vice President Obaidur Rashid Mamun, Joint Secretary Adnan Rahman, Finance Secretary Nishat Sharmin, Organizing Secretary Hasnat Piash and Publicity Secretary Madina Jahan Rimi.
Besides, members in executive posts are - Sharmin Akhter Pinky, Riyad Arif, Daud Rashid, Dil Afrose Jahan Chaity, Ayesha Khanam, Aritra Ankan Mitra, Taslima Akhter Shikha, and Alvi Hossain.
MSJ Assistant Professor Dr Muhammad Sazzad Hossain was appointed the association's advisor.
A memorial was also held in honour of the late Professor Brian Shoesmith, head of the Department of MSJ.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr HM Jahirul Haque, MSJ Head of Department Professor Dr Jude William R Genilo, and several other professors, lecturers, and students, among others, were also present at the program.
ULAB alumni Association President Ahmed Rakib moderated the event.
