Police recovered Saimon's body hanging from a ceiling fan in his room

Police recovered the body of a student of Government Titumir College from Dhaka's Kamalapur area on Saturday evening.

The deceased is SM Mujibur Rahman Saimon, 24, an honours student of the college. He hailed from Laksam upazila of Comilla.

The reason behind his death could not be known immediately.

Saimon used to stay with two friends in a flat on the fifth floor of a building in Sardar Colony.

The friends spotted the body after they returned to the flat from outside and informed police, Motijheel police station Sub-Inspector (SI) SM Mohammad Ishaq said.

Police recovered Saimon's body, hanging from a ceiling fan in his room, around 7:30pm, the SI said.

"We are investigating the death but are not sure yet if it was a suicide. Prior to the incident, he [Saimon] posted a status on his Facebook account describing the miseries in his life," he said.

The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.
