'After running some primary tests, we have found evidence of rape'

A teenaged street girl has been reportedly gang-raped in Dhaka's Uttara area.

The incident occurred in Kaola area near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 2:30am on Saturday.

Confirming the matter, Dhaka Medical College Hospital's One Stop Crisis Centre Coordinator Dr Bilkis Begum said: "The 14-year-old girl was rescued after the crime and brought to us by another teenager.

"After running some primary tests, we have found evidence of rape."

She is doing better now, Dr Bilkis added.

The teenager who rescued the rape survivor and brought her to the hospital, said they both lived at the airport railway station.

Around 2:30am, a certain Raju, and two other locals took her behind some bushes in Kaola area, and gang-raped her, he added.

"Some other locals and I rescued her, and took her first to Kurmitola General Hospital, after which we took her to DMCH," he further said.

DMCH police outpost In-Charge Md Bachchu Mia confirmed the matter.
