Coronavirus positive ACC director dies after cardiac arrest

He was admitted to the hospital that night and placed on ventilation on April 1

A director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), who had been undergoing treatment for coronavirus infection at Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital, has died followinga cardiac arrest.

He died at the hospital at 9:30am on Monday, the hospital’s administrative officer Alimuzzaman confirmed to Dhaka Tribune.

Asked on where he would be buried, the hospital official said the matter will be decided by higher officials.

Meanwhile, the deceased’s wife and children are currently in isolation, while those who came in contact with him and worked with him have been sent to home quarantine, an ACC official said.

On March 30, the ACC official reportedly contacted IEDCR himself with coronavirus symptoms, including fever and cough.

Later, IEDCR officials collected his samples and he was tested positive for novel coronavirus.

He was admitted to the hospital that night and placed on ventilation on April 1.

ACC chairman Iqbal Mahmud has expressed deep grief over his death, said an ACC official.
