Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested an alleged active member of "Hizb ut-Tahrir", a banned militant group, from Dhaka’s Mirpur area.

The arrestee is HM Sanaullah alias Sabuj, 33 and he was carrying out militant activities under the guise of a teacher, said police.

RAB-4 senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sajedul Islam Sajal confirmed the matter on Thursday and said they conducted raid on the basis of information in Mirpur Section-6 area on Wednesday and arrested him.

Leaflets, circulars, writings on Hizb ut-Tahrir doctrines, and soft copies of some books were recovered in the raid, he added.

Primary interrogation by RAB has revealed that Sabuj was working as an instructor in a private organization, said the official. He was associated with Hizb ut-Tahrir from student life.

Earlier, in 2016, he was arrested by police while conducting organizational activities for the militant group. He resumed his activities shortly after he was released, added Sajal.
