Police primarily suspect that she committed suicide but the motives are unknown
Police recovered the hanging body of a domestic help from a house in Shantinagar’s Chamelibagh area of Dhaka on Thursday.
The deceased Rozina Khatun, 13, was the daughter of Ayub Ali of Kaunia village of Mymensingh’s Kotwali thana.
Paltan Police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Bakar Siddique confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
He said a police squad went to the spot after receiving a call from the owner of the house, Sohan.
Rozina's body was recovered after breaking the lock of the bathroom door of the house in Chamelibagh area, he said.
The body was found hanging from the cloth stand in the bathroom with a scarf around her neck. Later, it was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, the police official added.
Rozina had been working in that house for a year, according to the family. Her grandmother also worked as a domestic help at the same place.
OC Siddique said Rozina went to the roof to dry clothes on Thursday afternoon. Then she went to the bathroom. After a while the family members started knocking on the bathroom door, but Rozina didn’t reply. Then they informed the police.
He said primarily they suspect that Rozina committed suicide. But they will continue investigating the matter.
