Update : 06 May 2020, 06:19 PM

The authorities of the country's two biggest shopping malls--Bashundhara City Shopping Complex and Jamuna Future Park--have decided not to open those before the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.

Considering the Covid-19 situation, the shop owners and the mall authorities have decided to keep the shops and showrooms closed till the Eid,” MA Hannan Azad, president of the Bashundhara Shopping Mall Shop Owners' Association, told Dhaka Tribune on Wednesday.

The decision was taken considering the health risk of the employees and the shoppers, he added.

Jamuna Future Park, also, will not open before the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, said Mohammed Alamgir Alam, director of Jamuna Group.

“The malls will not reopen until coronavirus situation improves,” he added.

Earlier, the government allowed all markets to open from May 10.
