RAB Director: Shahed was arrogant during interrogation

Mohammad Shahed, the chairman of Regent Hospital, has been accused of being involved in forging Covid-19 certificates

Update : 15 Jul 2020, 02:45 PM

Regent Hospital Chairman Mohammad Shahed alias Shahed Karim’s attitude during the interrogation was arrogant.

He was arrested from the border area of Debhata in Satkhira around 5:10am on Wednesday.

He says he will deal with it legally anyway and come out from jail, RAB Legal and Media Wing Director Lt Col Ashik Billah told journalists.

Shahed, who was allegedly involved in providing fake Covid-19 certificates and embezzling money from patients, had already served three months’ jail time in a fraudulent case before. So, he has some idea about how law and order works, Ashik Billah added.

“In primary interrogation we found that Shahed had crossed the border illegally through brokers and visited India several times. We got some information about the brokers and action will be taken against them,” said this official.

He added: “After we brought Shahed to Dhaka, we got to know that he has a private office in Uttara. We are conducting an operation at that office in Uttara.

“Since this is a private office, very few people have access here. He did not allow anyone to enter the office except for a handful of people, including his most trusted Masud Parvez,” he further added.

“After the operation is complete, we will be able to say if anything is found from there,” said Ashik.

He said Shahed is extremely cunning and an idol in the world of deception. He can easily influence people by his deceiving words. He has done the same thing everywhere he went.
