The bodies have been sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy
Two college students drowned in Dhaka’s Kadom Ali Lake in Mugda on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Nayeema Sultana, 18, and Mridul Hasan Rabby, 18. They were neighbours and studied at Khilgaon Model College.
According to local resident Mahmudul Rabby Rifat, a group of five college students visited the lake at around 4:45pm. They got on a small boat to cruise around in the lake.
The boat sank in the lake, and three of the students managed to swim back to the shore. But Mridul and Nayeema drowned.
Locals tried to rescue the two, but could not save them, Rifat added.
Later, rescue workers of the Fire Service and Civil Defence went to the spot and took the duo out of the water. They took the two to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at around 8:45pm, where the doctors pronounced them dead.
DMCH police outpost in-charge Md Bacchu Mia told Dhaka Tribune that the bodies had been sent to the morgue for an autopsy.
