A group of muggers, donning clothes for Tajia procession, attacked the trio and snatched their belongings away
Three students were mugged in front of Lalbagh Fort on Sunday afternoon.
A group of miscreants stabbed Bappi Madbar, 19, and took away his DSLR camera, fought with Abed, 19, taking away his wallet, and took the mobile phone of Sagar, 20, away.
Sagar and Abed brought Bappi to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in critical condition.
“We live in Shariatpur. Bappi was visiting his uncle's house in Lalbagh on Saturday. We also accompanied him to Dhaka, to do some shopping,” Sagar told Dhaka Tribune.
“We were standing in front of Lalbagh Fort when a group of 12-15 people, clad in dark clothes for Tajia procession, came to us and started stabbing Bappi indiscriminately, taking away his camera, kicked Abed, took away his wallet which had Tk2,000 in it, and snatched away my Samsung mobile phone,” he added.
Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police camp, said Bappi was currently under treatment with stab wounds in his hands and abdomen.
His two friends were also slightly injured and have received primary treatment.
He also informed that Bappi is from Barakanda village under Jajira upazila in Shariatpur. He is an HSC examinee from Shariatpur Government College.
