The mayor said the DNCC will go to the doorsteps of those who have not come under the tax net
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam has said the concerned authority will start a combing operation from September 1 to increase the coverage of revenue in the city.
“We will take action against the hanging wires in the city from October 1. We will also go to people’s doorsteps to take measures for bringing those who have not come under the tax net. The combing operation in this regard will start from September 1,” the mayor told a press briefing at Kalshi on Sunday.
After inspecting ‘Khijir Khal’ in Uttara, he visited Kalshi canal in Mirpur and its surrounding areas on Sunday morning.
The mayor also inspected several areas including Uttara Sector 4, Banani, Kachukhet, Maghbazar and Gulshan.
Regarding the elimination of water-logging, the mayor said: “Water-logging in Kalshi area has reduced. Similarly, water-logging at Banani Airport Road has also been removed. New canals have been dug in Ashkona area. Measures are also being taken to alleviate the water-logging caused by the Metrorail project in the city.”
DNCC Secretary Rabindra Shri Barua, Chief Waste Management Officer Commodore M Saidur Rahman, Chief Health Officer Brigadier General Md Mominur Rahman Mamun, Chief Engineer Brigadier General Muhammad Amirul Islam and Chief Estate Officer Md Muzammel Hoque, among others, were present on the occasion.
