Action will also be taken against illegal billboards and advertisements, says Mayor Atiqul
Issuing a strong warning to illegal occupants, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam on Friday said the DNCC will conduct mobile courts and auction programs from September 7, aiming to evict illegal structures from its footpaths and streets.
“If construction materials, makeshift and permanent shops, or other infrastructures are found on the city footpaths and the streets, those will be sold through instant auction,” Atiqul said while speaking at a virtual meeting with DNCC officials.
The mayor said the mobile courts and auction programs will begin in every zone of the city corporation on September 7.
He said the owners of the city ponds must clean up water hyacinth from their water-bodies to destroy mosquito breeding grounds with a view to protecting the city dwellers from the mosquito menace.
Besides, Atiqul said action will be taken against illegal billboards and advertisements.
DNCC Chief Executive Officer Selim Reza, its Secretary Rabindrasri Barua, Chief Estate Officer Mozammel Haque, Chief Revenue Officer Abdul Hamid Miah, and regional executive officers joined the meeting.
