Food Minister and IGP visit the injured government official at the hospital
Dinajpur’s Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Wahida Khanam, who suffered critical head injuries in an attack recently, is in stable condition, doctors say.
She will be kept in the High Dependency Unit (HDU) until the stitches are cut next Saturday, Prof Badrul Alam, joint director of the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital, told reporters on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder and Bangladesh Police’s Inspector General Benazir Ahmed visited Wahida at the hospital.

Sadhan told reporters that he was keeping an eye on Wahida, who hails from his area, and her physical condition.
“Whoever is involved in this incident will be brought to book,” he added.
UNO Wahida Khanam was seriously injured in an attack by miscreants who broke into her official residence in Dinajpur’s Ghoraghat upazila in the early hours of Thursday.
Her father, Omar Ali, was also injured in the gruesome attack. They were taken to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital.

Later, the UNO was airlifted from Rangpur to Dhaka by a Bangladesh Air Force MI-171SH helicopter.
She was admitted to National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital (NINH) in Dhaka, where she had a surgery on her head on Thursday night.
Doctors said UNO Wahida Khanam suffered critical injuries on the skull, which caused profuse bleeding.
Prof Md Zahed Hossain, head of the NINH’s neuro-trauma department, said: “Wahida Khanam was hit with something heavy. Because of this there is an indentation in her skull, which is causing immense pressure inside her head."
On Tuesday, the doctors at the hospital said UNO Wahida Khanam’s condition improved further as she was able to take liquid food from her mouth.
