Fazlur had bought the rickshaw with a Tk80,000 loan, having lost his previous job amid the coronavirus pandemic
A rickshaw puller’s fortunes have taken a miraculous turn, thanks to assistance from leading retail chain Shwapno.
The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) launched an operation to evict battery-powered rickshaws in the Jigatala area on Monday, resulting in the impounding of several vehicles.
Amidst the raid, a man named Fazlur Rahman broke down in tears when his only rickshaw was seized.
Fazlur had bought the rickshaw with a Tk80,000 loan, having lost his previous job amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Pictures of his grief rapidly spread through social media. Upon witnessing the sorrowful pictures, Shwapno Executive Director Sabbir Hasan Nasir decided to help out Fazlur in his moment of need. At his beacon, Shwapno Head of Marketing Tanim Karim, Head of Human Resources Shah Mohammad Rizvi Roni, and Media-Public Relations Manager Kamruzzaman Milu contacted Fazlur and subsequently met up with him, making him an offer.
Fazlur was ecstatic to learn that Shwapno was offering their hand at getting him back up to his feet by purchasing two rickshaws for him. He pledged to use the rickshaws to start a home delivery service that he had long dreamt of.
He picked up the offer letter of his dreams at a restaurant in Tejgaon on Wednesday from Shah Mohammad Rizvi Roni, appearing on behalf of Shwapno.
Expressing his gratefulness, Fazlur said: “I don’t have the word to express my joy. I was lost when my rickshaw was taken from me but today I feel happy again. Thanks to Shwapno for rescuing me from the situation and making my dream come true.”
