Police have recovered a dead body from Hatirjheel lake.
The body, rotten and swollen, was wrapped in sheets, mosquito nets and polythene, and the hands and the feet were tied with nylon rope.
It was recovered around 7:30am on Monday.
Police were unable to identify the deceased due to its decomposed state, but the body seemed to belong to a male of around 35 years.

Confirming the matter, Hatirjheel police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Niyaj Uddin said police rushed to the spot at Hatirjheel lake, between Mahanagar Project checkpost and Ulan, to recover the body as soon as locals informed them about it.
After the recovery, the body was sent to the Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy, he added.
Police suspect the deceased was a victim of preplanned murder. They are currently investigating the matter.
Efforts are also underway to identify the victim, added the SI.
