The complainant also filed two rape cases late last month where Nur was named as the accused

A case has been filed against former vice president of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) Nurul Haque Nur under the Digital Security Act (DSA).

The case was filed as Nur called a Dhaka University (DU) student “characterless” in a Facebook live on Sunday.

The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has been directed to investigate the case and submit an investigation report on November 29.

Dhaka Cyber Tribunal judge Md As-Shams Jaglul Hossain passed the order. Shamim Al Mamun, court assistant (Peshkar) of the tribunal, confirmed it.

The student, who had earlier accused him of abetting in her rape, told Dhaka Tribune that she lodged the lawsuit against Nur with the Cyber Tribunal Judge Md As-Shams Jaglul Hossain in Dhaka around 12:30 pm on Wednesday.

The complainant -- a postgraduate student of the university’s Islamic Studies department — has been on a fast-unto-death at the university campus since Thursday night.

Previously, she filed two rape cases late last month. Nur was named in both cases as an abettor along with several others.

When contacted, Nur claimed that he did not call her characterless; rather he meant to say that the DU student is not characterless by saying "Dushcharitraheen.”

According to him, the female student filed the case by being politically influenced and to demean his image and that of his organization, Bangladesh Student Rights Council.

When saying that there is no such word as "Dushcharitraheen" in Bengali dictionary, Nur defended himself by saying it is a colloquial word he used.

"Her intention is not good .She might not be characterless; she might have been doing these being provoked by someone or someone's patronization. That is why I addressed her by that word," Nur added.
