Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) mobile court has detained 11 brokers for allegedly taking patients of the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitations (NITOR) to other private hospitals by assuring better treatment.
Palash Kumar Basu, executive magistrate of RAB mobile court, conducted the operation on Wednesday afternoon at Nitor (formerly Pongu Hospital) in Shyamoli of Dhaka.
Palash Kumar Bosu said that the powerful broker or scam ring are obstacles in the hospital compound. They create hindrance in receiving treatment and harass the patients to transfer them to private hospitals.
He said broker rings have been exerting influence in different ways for a long time in NITOR and luring the patients and their relatives by promising ultra-modern treatment with minimum payment in other private hospitals.
''Fake doctors are giving treatments and conducting sensitive surgical operations at some private hospitals where the brokers refer the patients to. Mobile courts are working in this regard,” Palash Kumar Bosu said.
