RAB arrests Nigerian without passport

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained a Nigerian man in Dhaka as he did not have a passport or other necessary documents.

RAB detained the foreign national from the Khilkhet area of the capital and handed him over to police on Thursday . 

The detainee has been identified as Chukwuemeka Samuel Odima.

Khilkhet police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Sadiqur Rahman, investigation officer of the case filed over the incident , confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Friday.

The SI said RAB filed a case against Samuel around 7pm on Thursday and the Nigerian was sent to jail by the court on Friday.

When asked if Samuel was involved in any criminal activities, the SI said: “According to the case statement, Samuel could not show his passport or any other valid documents related to his stay in Bangladesh. That is why he was arrested. We are investigating if he was involved in any criminal activities.”
