The locals heard something fall and later found the man lying unconscious on the spot
Police have recovered the body of an unidentified man from a space between two buildings on Kazi Nazrul Islam road in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur area.
The deceased was wearing gabardine trousers and a black half-sleeve T-shirt.
On information, Mohammadpur police station Sub Inspector (SI) Md Anis rescued the man in serious condition from the space around 4am on Sunday.
The SI first took the man to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital, then to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) and National Institute of Neuro Sciences and Hospital.
Later, the man was taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where on-duty doctors declared him dead at 11:45am.
The body has been kept at the hospital’s morgue for autopsy.
The SI said the exact cause of death will be known after receiving the autopsy report and through investigation.
The deceased’s neighbour Liton Khan said the locals heard something fall at dawn. They soon reached the spot and found the men lying there unconscious. The police were informed immediately.
The man was probably trying to steal something from the building and fell down, he added.
