A fire that broke out at a 10-storey building at Konapara of Matuail in Demra on Thursday afternoon was brought under control by firefighters after five hours of frantic efforts.
The fire originated on the sixth floor of the building, Duty Officer Dana Miah of the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters said.
The building houses the factory and warehouse of light bulb and setting manufacturer Pasha Energy Ltd.
The fire broke out at around 4:50pm, Dana Miah said, adding: “Upon receiving information, 13 units of firefighters rushed to the spot to extinguish the fire.
Sub-Inspector Md Rafiqul Islam of Demra police station said the fire had spread to the entire building.
He further said no casualty had been reported.
The cause of the fire and the extent of losses have yet to be determined.
