Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam will continue his role till late 2022 as the government has extended his contractual appointment for the next the two years, with effect from December 16.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued an order on Tuesday in this regard since his current tenure as the cabinet secretary expires on December 15.
A former senior secretary in the Bridges Division, Anwarul was appointed as cabinet secretary on October 13 last year and he started working in the new role 15 days later.
Anwarul Islam belongs to BCS 1982 (special) batch. He joined Bangladesh Civil Service in 1983 and worked in various capacities both at field and central level.
Anwarul earned his BSS (Hons) and MSS in Social Welfare from Dhaka University. He also holds a post-graduate diploma in development planning.
