He issued the warning after finding mosquito larva in the ponds and drains maintained by the two government offices
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam has warned that lawsuits may be filed against the Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh (CAAB) and the Ministry of Railways.
He issued the warning after finding mosquito larva in the ponds and drains of the areas maintained by the two government offices in Dhaka’s Uttara.
The DNCC mayor was inspecting the ongoing crash program to exterminate mosquitoes on Monday, reports Bangla Tribune.
The mayor said: “Millions of mosquitoes are breeding in the ponds of two government institutions. These mosquitoes are entering the airport. If they do not clean the garbage from these ponds, including water hyacinths, they will be prosecuted.”
Residents of the two city corporation areas in Dhaka are once again facing a severe infestation of mosquitoes this year. In order to resolve the problem, the DNCC began their integrated crash program to eradicate Culex mosquitoes on March 8.
In the crash program, all mosquito extermination workers and vehicles of 10 regions of DNCC are dedicated to a single region for one whole day.
