Police have sought remand for the Prothom Alo journo in an Official Secrets Act case


The Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters' Forum (BSRF) and Bangladesh Health Reporters' Forum (BHRF) have decided not to cover a media call on Tuesday by the Health Ministry over Prothom Alo Senior Correspondent Rozina Islam, who has been arrested in an Official Secrets Act case.

Health Ministry officials turned Rozina over to police on Monday after confining her for five hours at the office of Saiful Islam Bhuiyan, the personal secretary to Health Services Division Secretary Lokman Hossain Miah. She was later sued under the Official Secrets Act and the Penal Code for ‘theft and photographing’ of official documents.

Rozina was taken to the court from Shahbagh police station around 8am on Tuesday. Police have sought a five-day remand for her in the Official Secrets Act case.
