DSCC formed 10 teams to monitor the waste management of cattle markets and other areas
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh on Wednesday expressed hope that sacrificial animal waste from Eid-ul-Azha would be removed from the city corporation area within the next 24 hours.
"We have taken various steps for removing the waste," the mayor said.
He made the remark while addressing journalists after attending the first congregation of Eid-ul-Azha at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Wednesday morning, said a press release as quoted by BSS.

The DSCC mayor also greeted the president, the prime minister, chief justice, and all people of the country on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festival for Muslims.
A DSCC press release on Monday said the city corporation had formed 10 teams to monitor the waste management of cattle markets and areas under DSCC.
The teams began conducting on-the-spot field level supervision of waste management from 2pm on Wednesday and would continue them till 2pm on July 24.
A central control room has also been set up at Shitalokkha hall of the corporation for the supervision of sacrificial animal waste-removal activities. About 375 vehicles, including 90 open trucks, 53 compactors, 12 water trucks, 102 dump trucks, 14 pay-loaders, 81 container carriers, 9 tire dozers, 2 trailers, 9 skid loaders, are engaged in waste removal activities at the field level.

On Tuesday, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam had also said that sacrificial animal waste upcoming Eid-ul-Azha would be removed within 24 hours with the sincere cooperation of everyone, including local councillors.
A total of 11,508 employees of DNCC would be deployed during the special cleaning program, he added.
The DNCC mayor said ward councillors had distributed 850,000 waste bags, 50 metric tons of bleaching powder, and 1,005 cans of Savlon among city dwellers to help cleaning efforts.
The DNCC also set up a control room for waste removal activities.
