A 38-year-old man was mistakenly given two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine on the same day at Khoksha Upazila Health Complex on Thursday.
A resident of Bujruk Mirzapur village of the upazila, Basharuzzaman was kept under observation of the Health Division officials, reports our Khulna correspondent.
He did not develop any complications nine hours after taking the vaccine shots, Civil Surgeon Dr HM Anwarul Islam said.
Basharuzzaman received the first dose of the vaccine around 12:30pm. “When he came back after 10 minutes, the health workers did not check his vaccination card and administered vaccine again.
“He also did not inform the staff that he took a shot of the vaccine,” the civil surgeon said, adding that they had not formed any probe committee over the matter.
Another man from Narayanganj, who got three doses of the Covid-19 vaccine at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on Monday, has also been kept under observation.
Officials at the BSMMU failed to explain how Omar Faruq took three doses from the same vaccine centre in a single day. They said that the condition of the person was stable.
As per rules, the health workers at vaccine centres fill out the vaccination cards after administering the vaccine.
Omar Faruq, however, claimed that he just followed the instructions given by the centre staff.
According to WHO, a person can be given the second dose of a Covid vaccine after four or eight weeks of the first jab.
