The country’s founding father and most of his family members were brutally assassinated on August 15, 1975. Like every year, this year the Awami League and its associate organizations are observing the month of mourning through various programs.

Amid the pandemic, the programs began on Sunday by paying tribute and respect to the departed souls of August 15, and carrying out charity works like blood donation, relief and food distributions across the country.

Awami Swechchhasebak League and Bangladesh Chhatra League lit candlelights and paid tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the early hours of Sunday, on his 46th martyrdom anniversary.

The leaders and activists assembled with candles in front of Bangabandhu’s residence at Dhanmondi road No 32 at 12:01pm on Sunday.
