The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested five members of the “Love Lane” gang from Hazaribagh area of the capital.
RAB spokesperson Khandaker Al Moin confirmed the information to Bengali Tribune on Monday.
He said a team of RAB-2 arrested the accused from Jigatala and Hazaribagh areas on Sunday night.
The arrestees are Abdul Malek, 38, Md Sharif Islam, 26, Md Raihan Hossain, 28, Rafiq Mia, 26, and Md Rakib Hossain, 25.
During the raid, four knives, one iron pipe, and six mobile phones were seized from them.
RAB has been conducting drives against the notorious teen gangs in Dhaka for the last couple of months.
The RAB official said apart from snatching, the arrested persons were involved in various misdeeds including drug selling and consumption, extortion, sexual harassment, fights in the neighborhoods over establishing supremacy on behalf of local land grabbers.
The members of the group had cases against them on charges of molestation, attempted murder and theft of women by entering various houses in Hazaribagh and Jigatla areas.
