After paying their respects, everyone took part in prayers for the salvation of the souls of martyrs
North South University (NSU) on Sunday observed the 46th martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day 2021 with respect and solemnity, while maintaining social distancing due to Covid-19.
To pay homage to the Father of the Nation and other martyrs of August 15, NSU kept the national flag hoisted at half-mast and placed floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in Dhanmondi on Sunday morning.
Among others, Azim Uddin Ahmed, chairman of the Board of Trustees of NSU, Benajir Ahmed, M A Kashem, Mohammed Shajahan and Rehana Rahman, members of the Board of Trustees, Vice-Chancellor Prof Atiqul Islam, Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr M Ismail Hossain, Treasurer Prof ABM Rashedul Hassan, Prof Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, dean of School of Business and Economics, Prof Javed Bari, dean of School of Engineering & Physical Sciences, Prof Abdur Rob Khan, dean of School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof Hasan Mahmud Reza, dean of School of Health & Life Sciences, department heads, teachers-students and staff of the university were present at the program.

NSU are set to organize a virtual seminar and dua mahfil program on August 18, 2021 to mark the 46th martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu and National Mourning Day 2021, said a press release.
AKM Mozammel Huq, minister of Liberation War Affairs, is scheduled to be present as the chief guest and Azim Uddin Ahmed is set to attend as the special guest, it added.
Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique, president of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) and former vice-chancellor of Dhaka University, will be present as keynote speaker while Prof Atiqul Islam will preside over the program.
