Road crashes leave 3 dead in Tangail, Narayanganj

One the accidents left two others injured

Three people have died in separate road accidents in Tangail and Narayanganj districts.

In Tangail’s Kalihati upazila, two people were killed after a bus, truck and a covered van collided with each other.

The incident happened on Dhaka-Bangabandhu Bridge highway in Dhalatengar area of the upazila around 10:30am on Friday.

The accident left two others injured while the deceased are yet to be identified.

Confirming the matter, Elenga Fire Service Station Officer Md Rasel said the accident happened as the vehicles were trying to overtake each other, killing one on spot. Three others critically injured were rushed to Tangail General Hospital where on-duty doctors declared another dead.

In Narayanganj’s Fatullah union, a school student was killed after being run over by a truck.

The incident was reported from the union’s Adarasha Nagar area on Thursday afternoon, confirmed police.

The deceased has been identified as Arif Hasan, 15, a ninth grader of Ahsan Uddin High School in the same area.

According to locals, Arif was run over by the speeding truck while he was walking on the road. He was killed on the spot.

Locals and Arif’s classmates immediately blocked the roads in protests and handed over the truck driver to the police.

“The truck driver Ayub Ali has been detained,” said Fatullah Model police station police station Officer-in Charge (OC) Rakibuzzaman.

He added that a case will be opened over the matter soon.

OC Rakibuzzaman said that the body has been sent to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue.
