A 24-year-old man was stabbed to death by some muggers in Dhaka's Tejgaon area on Tuesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Keshab Roy Papon, son of Manglu Roy of Taragonj upazila in Rangpur district.
Sub-Inspector Golam Sarwar of Tejgaon model police said some unidentified muggers stabbed him in front of Hotel Marine in West Tejturi Bazar on Tuesday night.
He was later rushed to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital by some pedestrians.
At 11pm he was subsequently transferred to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), where the on-duty doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Earlier, DMCH police outpost In-Charge Md Bacchu Mia also confirmed the incident and said the body has been sent to DMCH morgue for autopsy.

Quoting the pedestrians, Bacchu Mia said the muggers tried to snatch Papon’s cell phone and when he resisted they stabbed him. Ultimately leaving him with serious injuries.
According to the uncle of the deceased Kamal Roy, Papon lived in Tejgaon Monipuri Para. He was a student at Sonargaon University, and along with his studies, he worked part-time at Sundarban Courier Service.
“We learned of his death from the police and his colleagues,” he added.
Papon left his workplace at New Elephant Road around 8:30pm to go home on his bicycle, according to Harun Ur Rashid Biplob, a colleague of the deceased.
"We received the news of his death through the police," he said.
