The first-year honours admission tests of Dhaka University (DU) for the 2017-2018 academic session will begin this Friday with the admissions exam for the Business Studies faculty under "Ga-Unit" (C unit).
The one-hour test will be held from 10am to 11am at 53 on- and off-campus sites, said acting Vice Chancellor Prof Akhtaruzzaman in a press conference at the Abdul Matin virtual classroom in the DU Register Building.
A total of 29,311 candidates have applied for 1,250 seats under the unit. 23.45 persons are vying for each seat in C unit.
The admission test (general knowledge) of the Fine Arts Faculty under "Cha-Unit" (E unit) will be held on September 16 at 11 sites.
As many as 13,472 aspirants have applied for 135 seats under the Fine Arts faculty.
Admission tests under "Kha-Unit" will be held on September 22, while the tests under "Cha-Unit" are scheduled for September 23.
"Ka-Unit" admission tests will be held on October 13, and "Gha-Unit" (combined unit) tests for science, business studies and humanities group students are on October 20.

The applicants are prohibited from carrying any electronic devices, including mobile phones or any communicable devices, during the exams. The seating plans for the tests can be found on the university's admissions website: admission.eis.du.ac.bd.
A total of 263,039 valid applications have been accepted for 7,123 seats out of the 277,715 applicants who completed the initial registration.
Some 14,676 applicants did not pay the required Tk350 through the bank draft process. Therefore 36.93 valid applicants are vying for each seat whereas 39 had been vying earlier.
