Two CU students held with cheating devices

Update : 28 Oct 2017, 12:01 AM
Two students of Chittagong University (CU) have been detained for carrying electronic devices allegedly to be used for cheating during the university’s admission test on Friday. Ishtiaq Ahmed Sourav, a fourth-year student of marketing and former assistant secretary of the dissolved Bangladesh Chhatra League committee in the CU, was detained on Thursday evening. Earlier on Wednesday, Shariful Islam Nazmul, English student at the university, was detained. He provided information that led to the capture of Sourav. The suspected cheating devices were found in Sourav's possession. Shariful had enrolled at the CU in the 2013-2014 academic session. SM Mobassher Hossain, assistant commissioner (Panchlaish Zone) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police, said they had arrested Shariful from a house at the city’s Oxygen area in connection with a cheating ring. “Based on information provided by Shariful, we arrested Sourav,” the police official added. When contacted, CU Proctor Ali Akbar said both students had been suspended from the university. He added that the duo would also be served show-cause notices to explain why they should not be expelled.
