Update : 07 Jan 2018, 02:21 PM
While the Ebtedayee Madrasa teachers continued their sit-in for the seventh consecutive day, non-MPO teachers conveyed their gratitude towards Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her intervention to include them into the Monthly Payment Order (MPO) system. The teachers, after ending their five-day hunger strike following the prime minister’s assurance, exclaimed their gratitude and thankfulness to the premier at a press briefing organised by Non-MPO Educational Institution Teachers-Staff Federation at the Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka on Sunday. "I, on behalf of the federation, express our gratitude and thankfulness to the honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for accepting our fair demand," organization’s President Golam Mahmudunnnabi Dollar said. Terming Sheikh Hasina’s assurance as a victory for them, Dr Binoy Bhushan Ray, general secretary of the federation, said it is a result of their continuous movement since 2006 both in national and district levels. Among others, central leaders of the federation were present at the press meet. Meanwhile, the Ebtedayee madrasa teachers under the banner of “Independent Ebtedayee Madrasa Teachers Association” are continuing their seventh day sit-in programme in front of JPC to press home their demand of nationalisation of their all registered institutions under the Madrasa Education Board. General Secretary of the association Kazi Mokhlesur Rahman, in a press statement, said that the madrasa teachers will submit a memorandum in this regard to the Education Minister and Finance Minister on Sunday.
