
All students from 1,574 institutions across the country have passed in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations this year.
However, the number was higher last year, as there was a 100% pass rate in 2,266 institutions all over the country.

Speaking on this topic, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said: "A 100% pass rate is not always important. What is more important is that the number of candidates has increased this year, which was quite challenging."
A total of 2,026,574 candidates from 28,558 institutions sat for the SSC and its equivalent examinations this year. The number was 1,718,962 in 2017.

Even though the number of GPA-5 holders increased this year- with a total of 110,629 candidates achieving it, compared to 104,716 in 2017- the pass rate decreased.
77.77% students passed in this year's SSC and its equivalent examinations, which is a 2.58% lower than 80.35% in 2017.
Girls fared better than boys in 2018, with a 78.85% pass rate compared to 76.71% among boys.
