Barisal board tops with 70.55% pass rate

Some 62,173 students from 333 colleges had appeared in the exams

Barisal has secured the top position among the eight general educational boards with 70.55% pass rate – up 0.42% from last year’s – in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations this year.

The board’s Examination Controller Prof Md Anwarul Azim published the results in his office on Tuesday morning.

Some 62,173 students from 333 colleges had appeared in the exams held at 116 centres under Barisal board between April 2 and May 23, and 43,861 of them came out successful.

However, the number of GPA 5 went down – from last year’s 787 to 670 this year, while the girls did better than the boys.

This year, 23,070 (76%) out of 30,356 appeared female examinees passed, with 370 of them scoring GPA 5, under Barisal board.

On the other hand, 20,791 (65.35%) out of 31,817 male examinees have passed, with 300 of them scoring GPA 5.

Prof Anwarul Azim said no one from the total 18 examinees from Satla Ideal College in Barisal’s Wazirpur and Poshurbunia Islamia Mohila College in Patuakhali had passed.

Meanwhile, five institutions, including Barisal Cadet College, secured 100% pass rate.

The pass rate in Rajshahi board is 66.51%, 66.13% in Dhaka, 65.42% in Comilla, 62.73% in Chittagong, 62.11% in Sylhet, 60.40% in Jessore and 60.21% in Dinajpur.
