An international conference on the challenges of teaching English in present times will be held at Brac University on Thursday and Friday.
BracU’s department of English and Humanities, with the support of Standard Bank Ltd (SBL), is organizing the two-day event, titled “Rethinking Disciplinary Diversity: Challenges of Teaching English in the 21st Century,” at the university’s auditorium in Mohakhali, Dhaka.
Prof Janinka Greenwood from the University of Canterbury at Christchurch, New Zealand, and Dr Obaidul Hamid from the University of Queensland, Australia are set to present keynote papers at the conference.
With a number of sessions on diverse themes and issues, the conference will re-examine the scopes and potentials in English Language Teaching (ELT) and Applied Linguistics, and demonstrate how to redraw disciplinary boundaries.
